Sereer HDV-301 FHD 1080P Digital Camera Review

Sereer HDV-301 FHD 1080P Digital Camera Review

The Sereer HDV-301 FHD 1080P Digital Camera is one of the few camcorders left in an ever changing marketplace. It’s refreshing to see a company invest in this type of camera in comparison to the abundance of go pros being released these days. If you can get over the limitations then you will certainly like this product. The video which is probably the reason your getting this is comparable with smartphones of 2013-2014. So it should not be to surprising of it’s struggles in low light situations or lack of usable 1080p recording. I don’t know anyone who would use 1080p knowing it only recorded at 15fps in comparison to 30 fps of 720p. By low light I do not mean night vision mode which is pretty cool by the way and works well. I’m referring to situations where light is challenging to come by but still existent like a bar or a basement. The footage ends up looking very fuzy and not to my liking. Next with pictures you have a 24MP camera which is once again average like 2013-2014 flagship camera. It takes decent shots but when you zoom in the lack of detail becomes apparent. One thing I do give credit is for the battery. Since the inception of portable camera’s battery live has always been inherently an issue. And while this product does not reinvent the wheel it definitely does a good job not dying. Also beware when the camera first arrives not only is it dead but the battery is upside down so if you don’t flip it ride side up the camera is unusable. I don’t like the ideal of mandatory manual reading to operate a product. Nobody likes reading manuals so that’s kinda a bummer. Customer service is not usually a category I touch on but Sereer did a nice job of responding. I know of these asian companies don’t like responding on friday and saturday but they were one of the few I have dealt with that actually done that and helped me with my issues. If your wondering about more specifics about the product it has a power button, up and down button for menu navigation, mode to switch between gallery, photos and video and menu which helps you change settings in each category. The top of the device has the digital zoom option which unfortunately degrades picture quality wish they had optical and a photo capture button. The back contains your video capture button, charging port, tv port and hdmi port. The flip out screen is indeed touchscreen but very inaccurate and requires alot of feedback for usage. Inside the box you got alot of stuff like a mini usb cable, mini hdmi cable, carry on case, composite cables, capture remote, wall adapter and driver disk. Overall I would say that’s generous on their part as you don’t see that much stuff typically so thanks for that. But by far the biggest selling feature in my mind like I mentioned before is the design. It’s your classic home video camcorder with the flip screen their. You simply don’t see anymore I’m joyous with nostalgia just turning this thing on. If you can get past the sub par low light performance, and the clunky Ui and weird battery placement decision then you have a solid camcorder but please don’t think this going to replace your DSR or any point and shoot camera this is simply a recreational camera. Thanks so much for reading this review any questions please leave them in the comments below.

I received this product from the seller at a reduced rate in return for a fair and unbiased review. I assure you this review would have been mutual if I did in fact pay full price. I was not compensated in anyway before during or after any of my reviews.

Thanks for your honest review, there seems to be an awful lot of suspect reviews on the listing on Amazon, I suspect that there’s more than a few paid reviewers on there Lol!
I’m just looking for a camera to use for any days out with the family but I don’t want something that’s big, clunky and heavy and I think this could fit the bill.
    Thanks again.

    Regards,

    Andy.
